How Scales Work
How Scales Work – ClassiCarModels
At ClassiCarModels, we offer model cars in various scales.
The scale of a model car indicates how large the miniature is compared to the real vehicle.
This helps collectors understand the model’s size and build their collections consistently.
What Does “Scale” Mean?
The scale is expressed as a ratio, such as 1:18 or 1:43.
This means that 1 centimeter on the model equals 18 or 43 centimeters on the real car.
The larger the second number, the smaller the model.
Popular Scales at ClassiCarModels
At ClassiCarModels, you’ll find model cars in several popular scales:
-
1:18 – Large models with an impressive level of detail, often featuring opening doors, hoods, and detailed interiors.
-
1:24 – Slightly smaller but still beautifully detailed and more affordable.
-
1:43 – The most commonly collected scale; compact, space-efficient, and ideal for displaying multiple models together.
For Formula 1 fans, we also offer models in 1:18, 1:43, and occasionally 1:8 — the latter being highly detailed collector’s editions.
Why Different Scales?
Not every collector has the same preferences or display space.
-
Larger scales (like 1:18) are perfect for those who value realism and intricate detail.
-
Smaller scales (like 1:43) are ideal for collectors who want to build a large collection or have limited space.
ClassiCarModels Tip
